The next easiest method is to use the Easy Transfer feature in Windows to transfer data to a different computer. This section discusses the following scenarios in which you can use the Easy Transfer feature to back up data to a different computer:




Windows 7 Transfer Download Xp



Microsoft doesn't offer the support service for Windows XP since April 2014, and Windows Server 2003 will end in July 2015. Windows XP and Server 2003 holders have migrated or plan to transfer data, service, paid programs to something else or later system. Backing up to a local network or USB disk is a common choice, if you want to transfer to Windows 7, 10, 11or server 2008, 2012, Windows Easy Transfer would be an efficient solution. Windows Easy Transfer can support setting, data, but not support desk applications; we can try EaseUS Todo PCTrans - the data & programs migrations tool.


Just transferring files, documents, music, photos, settings among systems, Windows Easy Transfer work well on Windows XP, Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8. However, it is not easy for Windows 8.1 users, indeed, we still don't get any official reply about why not successfully transfer data from or to Windows 8.1. Still, now, there is not any feedback and comments about if Windows 10 supports Windows Easy Transfer.


Some people persist in using Windows Easy Transfer to transfer crucial files, setting. Considering Windows 8.1 and applications, highly recommend you EaseUS Todo PCTrans, it can quickly and safely transfer files and applications from Windows XP to Windows 7, 8, 8.1,10.


EaseUS PC transfer software offers direct and indirect ways to migrate files, applications from Windows XP to Windows 7, 8, 10, 11. "Via the connected network" to directly move photos, documents, movies, programs or "Via the compressed files" to create backup files.


Step 3. Connect two PCs via the network by entering the password or verification code of the target PC. Besides, make sure you have chosen the right transfer direction and click "Connect" to continue.

First, download and install the Windows Easy Transfer Wizard. Point your browser to www.microsoft.com, hover your mouse over the Downloads and Trials button, and from the drop-down menu that appears select Download Center. Then, in the search box, type Windows Easy Transfer Wizard and press Enter.


We suggest that you download the installer to your system before running it, rather than running it directly from the download link. Why? Because you're going to need to install it again when you move your application profiles into the Windows 7 installation.


The only time we've found the data transfer cable to be superior is when you are migrating between two computers, without any networking capability. If networking is available, we'll use it, for the simple reason that transfers over Fast Ethernet are much faster than using the transfer cable.


Before performing the transfer, the Easy Transfer Wizard gives you an opportunity to review what is being migrated (see Figure 3.8). Check through the list to make sure you haven't missed something important; then click Next to start the migration process.


In the example in Figure 3.8, the user has assembled all of the files he wants to save in the folder "Joel" to make the transfer easy. This screen may not look the same way if you've chosen multiple folders and files from different locations.


One way to make your transfer a bit easier at this point is to copy the Windows Easy Transfer Wizard installer onto the external drive. That way, you can easily load it after you've installed Windows 7.


Files can be password protected for extra security, and transferred in three different ways: with a special Easy Transfer cable, through a network connection or using an external hard disk or USB flash drive. In any case, the process is easy and efficient.

Luckily, there is a way to get around this problem. Basically, the Windows Easy Transfer program is already installed on Windows 7 and Windows 8. If you are using Windows XP or Vista, you can download the appropriate version from here:


Now, if you try to download the Vista version and run it on Windows 10, it gives you an error. However, if you have a Windows 7 64-bit machine, you can copy over the folder that contains the Windows Easy Transfer program to a USB stick and then run it on Windows 10 and it works just fine.


If you do not have access to a Windows 7 64-bit machine, I copied the folder and zipped it up, which you can download from here. If you have 32-bit Windows 7, run the preinstalled 32-bit version on the Windows 7 machine, but download the 64-bit version on Windows 10. It can import a 32-bit version of an Easy Transfer file. Simply uncompress the folder and run migwiz.exe.


Click Next and then choose the method you want to use to transfer between the old PC and Windows 8. You can choose from Easy Transfer Cable, a Network, or an external hard disk or USB flash drive:


I want to transfer my mail from an old Windows XP computer running Thunderbird 45.8.0 to a Windows 7 computer (Thunderbird not installed yet). The "How to transfer mail to a new computer" instructions are pretty clear (copy old Thunderbird folder to new computer), but do I have to do anything special regarding the old source files? Can I install the newest version of Thunderbird on Windows 7 and replace the folder with the old one, or do I have to install an old version of Thunderbird (45.8.0) first?


Then, install TB 60.4; it will read the copied profile folder. You may have to adjust a few things such as the default downloads folder and the default applications for opening attachments, but all the accounts, mail, contacts, calendars etc. should be preserved.


For Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8/8.1/10 systems, the driver is included, so no action is needed for these systems.To use the Easy Transfer Cable on Windows XP, you need to download software from Microsoft:


Note: Windows Easy Transfer is different from Easy Computer Sync - it is meant to only transfer data to a Windows 7 or above machine once, not synchronize data many times between Windows XP/Vista/7/8 machines.


Since its first release as part of Windows XP, the Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS) has been constantly improved, adding more powerful controls for the developer and admin to control and manage downloads. To transfer files directly over a network without copying to and from a network location, a Windows Easy Transfer key is necessary. The key helps protect files and settings when you transfer them over the network.


If you are using a USB flash drive, try to use one with enough storage space for the entire transfer. If there is not enough storage space on the USB flash drive for the full transfer, copy as many files as possible. Repeat the process until you have transferred all files and settings.


When using this method, Windows Easy Transfer estimates the amount of disk space and now many optical discs are necessary for transferring your selections. Both computers must be able to read and write the same type of optical disc format.


Log in to the user account with administrator rights and choose a method for transferring your data between two computers. Start Windows Easy Transfer by using one of following methods, then follow the on-screen instructions.


You can use a network to transfer large quantities of files and settings to another computer with one simple process. Make sure you have logged into the old and new computers with administrator authority. On each computer, connect an Ethernet cable to a router so that they share the same network. Start Windows Easy Transfer on both computers. On each computer, indicate "Which computer are you using now?" You are prompted to enter a Windows Easy Transfer key from the old computer that is running the Windows Easy Transfer feature.
