Seasons slipped by, and I could feel the transition of every day move through my body. It was a remarkable experience, and one that profoundly shaped me. The air was so clean and clear, that cities gave me a headache with their sounds, bright colors, and traffic exhaust. 8 months out of the year, I was busy with the daily chores, in addition to prepping for what the next season would bring: Bush hogging in the spring, hauling wood during the summer, and splitting wood in early fall. Though winters were very quiet, and hikers were scarce, I always had the freedom to take off on a trail to clear my head, and I could hike out any time to drive to the nearest town 40 minutes away: Jamestown, TN.
